Dr. Kristi

Medical Director

Dr. Zimmerman-Lundt developed her love for animals while growing up in New Jersey.

As a child, she had a variety of pets including goats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils and of course, cats and dogs. At the age of 5, she had already decided to become a veterinarian.

Prior to veterinary school, she attended the University of Maryland at College Park for graduate coursework and interesting research internships at the National Institutes of Health. She attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine from 1991-1995.

A one year internship at the San Diego Zoo after graduation led her west, but she returned to New Hampshire in 1996. During the many years that she has practiced in NH, she has gained valuable medical, surgical and management experience at a number of local veterinary hospitals.

Dr. Kristi is a member of several professional organizations including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.

When not at the hospital, Dr. Kristi enjoys hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, antiquing, gardening, traveling and working out. She spends her free time with her husband Larry and dog Zurich. Life is good!

Dr. Marie

Veterinarian

Dr. Marie grew up in Londonderry, NH and has loved all furry creatures for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately, her mother strongly dislikes animals and so growing up she was never allowed any pet larger than a guinea pig (of which she has had several). However, this did not dissuade her from pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Marie graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Animal Science in 2009 and from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. It was during her undergraduate education that Dr. Marie first worked at Best Friends Animal Hospital as an assistant/ receptionist. After living in upstate NY for the last several years, she moved back to her home state in 2017 with her husband, Howard.  They have 2 daughters, Lorelai born in 2017 and Halary born in 2020.

In addition to being a full-time mom, Dr. Marie works part-time at Best Friends Animal Hospital and is also an adjunct professor in veterinary technology for Medaille University. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association.

Although her favorite activity is spending time with her family, Dr. Marie also loves horseback riding, traveling, kayaking, and eating dessert!

Dr. Karcher

Veterinarian

Dr. Karcher graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and practices both conventional and holistic veterinary medicine.

After attending the Chi Veterinary University in Florida for several years, she obtained certification in veterinary acupuncture, herbal medicine, and food therapy. All these modalities are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine which has been practiced on humans and animals for centuries.

Dr. Karcher also has studied Western herbal medicine which commonly uses one herb to treat a medicine condition.

For clients who with to use both modern drugs and herbals, they can be used together. It is common for these patients to use less of the conventional drugs once they are started on the herbals.

A holistic exam is used to determine what part of the body is unbalanced or is being treated for a medical condition. A full history is taken which includes illnesses, ailments, food preferences, daily activity, sleeping habits, temperature preferences, and living arrangements. After the intake is complete, a decision is made regarding if the patient would benefit from acupuncture, herbal, food therapy or a combination of these.

The examination takes approximately 60 minutes, and acupuncture can be done after the exam is completed if needed.

Dr. Karcher treats cats, dogs, and rabbits holistically.
