Pet Wellness Exams
in Manchester, NH

TO HELP KEEP YOUR PET HEALTHY, WE TYPICALLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU BRING THEM TO OUR HOSPITAL

TWICE A YEAR.

Puppies and kittens require more frequent visits.

Here at Best Friends Animal Hospital, we believe the best way to treat an illness is to prevent it. That’s why we place such a strong emphasis on wellness exams as a means of preventive care for dogs and cats. While some practices encourage annual exams, more frequent exams increase the chances of catching certain health problems early. The sooner we can catch early signs of a problem, the sooner we can treat it, and the greater the chances of success with treatment. We recommend that all adult dogs and cats have a comprehensive wellness exam every six months.

About the Wellness Exam

The comprehensive wellness exam is a physical evaluation for your pet, similar to a human physical. Our veterinarian will check your pet’s eyes, ears, heartbeat, breathing, skin, coat, teeth, joints, abdomen, and overall body condition. If we detect any abnormalities, we may also perform a blood test or urine test to gather more information about your pet’s organs.

We value the importance of client education, so we’ll give you detailed information about our findings and encourage you to ask any questions or let us know your concerns during these wellness visits. For your convenience, we sell various products right here in our hospital that are directly related to tips we provide regarding pets’ health. These include toys, leashes, collars, ID tags, shampoos, conditioners, supplements, and dental care products.

Age-Related Pet Wellness Programs

Puppies and kittens require a series of vaccinations, usually within their first six months of age, which is why they require more frequent veterinary visits. Bi-annual exams are especially important for senior pets, since they’re more at risk for certain health problems.
